Bayan AI (بيان) is a conversational agentic AI assistant developed by aixplain using aixplain’s AgenticOS for Syriatel Mobile Telecom . Bayan AI is the first nationwide AI assistant in the Levant region and is an Arabic-first AI assistant.
“What stood out most during the project was the speed of implementation and the flexibility of the aixplain platform. The teams delivered an AI assistant tailored to Syriatel’s requirements, knowledge base, and Arabic-speaking users. The platform enabled effective customization around local context and language needs, while maintaining a high-quality user experience.” Yasser Kahf, CEO Syriatel
“We see BayanAI as an important step in Syriatel’s digital transformation journey and look forward to exploring further opportunities to expand its capabilities and deliver greater value to our customers.”
How was it built?
Bayan AI was built and runs on aixplain’s AgenticOS. This means many things for this program.
- Portability: AgenticOS allows programs to run within their own environments. There are no lock-ins that apply to any model or hosting vendor. BayanAI runs on Syriatel’s terms.
- Governance: This platform monitors every response through access permissions, content policies, and safety tools, leaving clear expectations about what is allowed.
- Future-Proof: Models are ever-changing. Bayan can adapt to change and assume new features without altering the product, creating an agent that will outlast a vendor.
What can Bayan AI do?
The practical uses of this assistant are expansive. On a professional level, a Syriatel employee can use Bayan AI to reference company policies, bundling and billing information, account services, and more directly from Syriatel’s own operational systems. Another practical application of this platform includes its use in writing and translation.
Bayan AI can translate Arabic and English documents with ease and summarize them. It can also draft emails and messages, making it a versatile bilingual tool. Finally, Bayan AI serves as a tool for reasoning and planning. Users can prompt this agent to help with planning and task-handling and draft a reply to a formal letter
Beyond its uses in the office, Bayan AI can generate responses and information relevant to the user’s environment. Where a Western-focused agent would have trouble mapping and generating a response about surrounding areas in Syria, Bayan AI does not have this problem. This agent can easily provide accurate responses containing subjects relating to local destinations, pharmacies, ATMs, and exchange rates, to name a few.
Why does this matter?
Bayan AI is built for the user, the Arabic-speaking user first. The platform itself utilizes Arabic as its first language, with English second. While the Modern Standard dialect is the primary structure. Along with this, Bayan AI generates responses that are factually accurate and culturally aligned to the user and their behavior, either in their daily life or within Syriatel’s services.
Finally, the platform is sovereign. It is deployed under Syriatel's own governance and data perimeter. No user data leaves the country. Users of Bayan AI can trust in the ways this assistant was built for them and that their comfort, culture, and safety were paramount.
The road ahead
Bayan AI is rolling out through 2026 across a full-screen web app and native iOS and Android apps with tiered subscription plans that put a familiar modern assistant experience in every Syriatel user’s hands.
Beyond that, the roadmap extends the assistant’s reach. Planned capabilities include greater customization, deeper research and analysis, broader task automation, an expanding tool ecosystem, and availability across additional channels. Because Bayan AI is designed around Syriatel’s environment rather than a specific vendor, each of these can be adopted as the platform and the underlying models mature.
The strategic value compounds over time. Bayan AI is not a standalone chatbot but a sovereign, governed agentic foundation Syriatel can extend to new audiences and use cases, from customer service and local discovery to internal productivity and new digital services. Every governed interaction also produces operational insight that stays within Syriatel’s perimeter.
